“A safe space to dream, allow those dreams to evolve into ideas and eventually see those ideas turn into workable goals” Hishma, 26 years old
I am Hishma. I am a 26 year old who loves writing, travelling and creating. I thrive when I am around the ocean and happy humans. I am passionate about healing the world through compassion and love and encouraging humans to step into their power and light.
Miyaheli by UNDP was a space where I observed equality, inclusiveness and empowerment at its best. It was a space where I had the opportunity to learn, grow and be inspired. It was a safe space to dream, allow those dreams to evolve into ideas and eventually see those ideas turn into workable goals. Surrounded by creative innovators who dared to think thoughts that broke barriers and boundaries, I was encouraged to explore beyond what was considered possible to create new realities.
The Miyaheli social innovation camps are organized by UNDP supported by the Government of Australia and partnered by Ooredoo. It brings together youth from across the Maldives, to cultivate their ideas using digital and non-digital tools to create both tech-based and non tech-based social innovations to pressing social issues.
The camps have now been held for three consecutive years and this year, solutions were proposed around: creating a peaceful and tolerant community; increasing women’s voices; using new technology to create successful businesses; building youth movements; and creating green innovation.
