UN50 Photo Exhibition

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Maldives’ membership at the United Nations. To commemorate this historic occasion, the United Nations in Maldives has unveiled its “UN50 photo exhibition” capturing the development journey of Maldives over the past 5 decades and how United Nations has been a crucial partner throughout the years. The exhibition will run through 24-26 October 2015.

The exhibition highlights key moments and achievements with the UN’s contribution set against an overall backdrop of progress in development for Maldives since independence. The UN50 Photo Exhibition will portray the impressive progress Maldives has witnessed over the last five decades and the crucial role of the United Nations in its development passage.

Illustrated through decades of photos and narrative, this exhibition captures the Maldivian Government’s engagement with the United Nations nationally to promote socio-economic development, advance a youth agenda, protect the rights of children, and advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

This exhibition also depicts the road ahead for Maldives in the post-2015 world, outlining the Government’s priority areas as identified in the new United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2016-2020.
