Task Force on Youth/Adolescents

Youth Voices "Facts, Opinions and Solutions"
The UN agencies together with the Government of Maldives have initiated a project to oversee the compilation of the first ever youth-driven report. Thus far, little is known about how Maldivian young people perceive the challenges and opportunities now facing them. One of the key aims of this project is to provide a chance to the nation's youth to play an active role in examining the challenges and opportunities facing them and work towards its solutions through the production and dissemination of a Report entitled "Youth Voices Facts, Opinions and Solutions".
Logo Designing Competition
In keeping with the aim of the project to involve youth at every stage, the logo for this project is to be designed by young people themselves. This is achieved through a nation-wide logo designing competition, which is open to all Maldivian youth. The best entry of this competition will be the designated logo for the Youth Voices project. The competition, organised by the project aims to develop a creative concept that is youth-driven and youth focused. Selected entries will be displayed at an exhibition held at a later date.
What is a Logo?
A logo is a combination of characters and/or graphics to identify an organisation, project etc. It is a visual symbol.
Some Suggested Themes
The themes for the logo suggested below are only meant to act as a guideline. Designers are encouraged not to limit themselves to these but to be creative and original.
- The number of youth and adolescents in the Maldives is rapidly approaching almost half of the country's population. To ensure a healthy and happy future for the leaders and adults of tomorrow, it is crucial that we channel young people's energy, creativity, potential and talent in a positive way.
- Today's youth are facing unprecedented and unique problems. These problems need strategic and sustainable solutions from the people who know the problems best; young people themselves.
- It may be indicative of the state of the Maldivian youth; symbolising the challenges and opportunities facing the young women and men of the country, the risks they encounter as well as their aspirations and hopes for the future.
- The logo may be a representation/ expression of how Maldivian youth view themselves and social, economic, political, emotional and other issues facing today's youth from their perspective. It should portray the role of youth in finding solutions. It should represent hope and your aspirations for a brighter future
Guidelines
The logo should reflect the concept of the project Youth Voices "Facts, Opinions and Solutions".
The youth age group considered in the report is 15 - 24 years
It would be useful to keep in mind that the logo is to be used in all project activities as a visual identity. For example, all correspondence, letterheads, brochures, website etc.
It should not be derogatory or discriminatory to any person(s) and should not be gender biased
It might be useful to consider the title of the project, its vision and goals and consider your opinions and attitude towards these when designing the logo
