Partnerships

International Organisation Conferences Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
The United Nations Resident Coordinator System is the overall coordinating body for the work of all the UN agencies in the Maldives. The UNRC system works closely with the IOCD in policy related matters, and in matters that require coordination from the side of the Government.

Department of External Resources, Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
The Department of External Resources has played a strong participatory role in the work of the UN since the start of UN assistance to the country. The involvement of DER has been instrumental in all UN country programmes and it has continued to play a supporting role to the work of the UN in the country. The relationship with DER has never been stronger than it is today.

Other Government Partners:
Establishing good relationships with government partners is a key part of the UN Family's role. All  UN agency projects work directly with a government department within a ministry or a ministry itself. As such the UN has established good working relationships with the following ministries and they continue to grow in strength:
Ministry of Atolls Development
Ministry of Health
Department of Public Health
Ministry of Education
Ministry of Youth and Sports
Ministry of Planning and National Development
Ministry of Gender and Family
Ministry of Information
Ministry of Environment, Energy and Water
Ministry of Home Affairs
Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources
Ministry of Transport and Communications
Maldives Customs Service

Bilateral Partners:
The UN has always supported collaboration with different bilateral agencies and bilateral agencies have worked very closely with UN in various aspects of its programmatic work. These collaborations can take the form of financial contributions to projects, parallel funding, partnering in initiatives where there is common interest, training or capacity building, and information exchange opportunities, or simply partnership to avoid duplication. More recently the UN is collaborating with the World Bank on making a MDG Report for the Maldives.

Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs)
The UN Family supports the work of NGOs and Community Based Organisations (CBOs) as seen as making an invaluable contribution to society. The UN has developed many projects that have benefited NGOs and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs.)

Private Sector
Identifying the crucial role of the private sector in moving any country forward the UN is always seeking venues of cooperation between the UN system and the private sector.
