Overview: Resident Coordinator System
The Resident Coordinator system at the country level, aims to bring together the different UN agencies, both resident and non-resident, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the UN system’s support at the country level.

The UN system works to develop the best strategy to respond to national needs and plans; with increased focus on capacity development and national ownership to manage development effectively.

The Resident Coordinator is the designated representative of the Secretary-General at the country level, and together with the Country team, works closely with national government to advocate the interests and mandate of the UN.  In the Maldives, as in most countries, the Resident Coordinator is also the UNDP Resident Representative.

The 2008 Resident Coordinator Annual Report is now available for download from UNDOCO website.
