The UN Country Team is led by Mr. Andrew David Cox, the Resident Coordinator and Designated Official of the UN system in the Maldives. He is also concurrently the UNDP Resident Representative and the UNFPA Representative.
Support to the UNCT is provided by the Resident Coordinator’s Office, which is comprised of the UN Coordination Specialist, Coordination Associate. Contact the RC Office.
The Resident Coordinator draws on the skills of the United Nations Country Team members to better serve beneficiaries by working together with the government to analyse the country situation and prioritise development challenges, clarify results and roles of agencies, design country programs and projects; and monitor and evaluate progress towards achieving the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs).

Country Team meetings are the principal mechanism for coordination of UN activities at the country level. Held monthly, the Country Team uses the platform to exchange ideas and make decisions on policies, plans and strategies for the UN system in the Maldives. The meetings are convened by the UN Resident Coordinator and chaired by a UNCT member on a rotational basis.
